San Miguel de Allende, Mexico

It is with great joy that we invite you to be a part of our wedding – a collision of worlds and a celebration of love.

Wedding Prerequisite Playlist

Where

Where do an Australian and a Texan who fell in love in New York City get married?

We are blessed to have so many special people in our lives from multiple treasured homes. Having so many of you in one place will be a dream come true.

San Miguel de Allende is a befitting set for that dream. For the unfamiliar, it is a colorful, walkable, cobblestoned town in the mountains of Mexico. It is small and local enough that many Americans haven’t heard of it, but has enough tourism and expat community that you’ll be able to get by if you are not Spanish speaking. It is known for its colonial and baroque architecture, its lovely, lavish villas, and its magical ability to leave an imprint on visitors forever.

Travel

There are two airports within driving distance of San Miguel de Allende. Flights are limited and we recommend booking soon!

QUERETARO (QRO)

The Queretaro airport is our suggested option. It is the closest at about an hour away from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. There are several short, direct flights every day from Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

DEL BAJIO, LEON/GUANAJUATO (BJX)

The Leon airport is about two hours away from San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. There are several short, direct flights every day from Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.

We recommend Transportes San Miguel Magico for airport transfers. They will collect you with your name on a sign (chic!) and take you straight to your accommodation for around $150 USD. Contact Miguel Chavez at chavezja67@yahoo.com.mx.

Rooms & Villas

Hotels, private rentals and AirBnbs are all available in San Miguel. If you book anywhere in Zona Centro and/or within walking distance of El Jardin, you’ll be on a safe and beautiful street and able to get around on foot. There are plenty of AirBnbs available at all price ranges.

////////////////////////////////

$: Hacienda De Las Flores: Central, sweet and cheap!

$$: Hacienda El Santuario has mid-range rooms and Airbnb should not be slept on
$$$:
Casa No Name: six room mansion turned boutique hotel with a private terrace bar, 18th century murals and heavenly gardens. Serene and spesh.

////////////////////////////////

Casa de Sierra Nevada: other worldly. If you don’t stay here, go for a drink or a meal or a massage or a facial.

Packing Tips and Moodboards

San Miguel de Allende sits at six thousand feet elevation. Late April will mean balmy days fit for swimming and chilly nights that call for a cozy layer.

All streets are cobblestone, pack comfy shoes and outfit plan accordingly.

Welcome drinks (festive cocktail) and the wedding itself (black-tie-but-have-fun-with-it) will be hosted in the iconic Casa Hyder which critics and fans are calling “the most lavish home in San Miguel and everybody knows it.” Wear something that makes you feel like the favorite guest that you are!
